Just a reminder, there is no class on Monday. Instead, you will be doing the following assignment:
Read the Core 1 assignment located on the right hand side before you do the following:
1. Choose your online community. Think about what makes a good community and decide which community you would like to research, in-depth for the rest of the semester. Post *** underneath a link to your online community with a description and at least 3 reasons why your community would make a good online community to research. Remember the attributes that make up a good community that we discussed in class and keep that in mind when you write your explanation.
2. Along with your posting, let me know what would make our website a better writing website for our 112-1664 community. Consider your own needs and the needs of your fellow classmates. What would make things more convenient for writing? What would make this online community more interractive? What would make things more instructional for our community?
3. Read:

- (right click, save as) Tribes Casebook by Various (1-13)
...and consider what your website is trying to communicate specific goals or "stories" and how people pick up on those goals to create a community.

RealityRN.com will most likely be the community online that i will do further research on. It is a website that allows nurses or any other user to view the opinions of future and current nurses in the healthcare feild. it also helps you find varies of jobs in the health care field.

They are a good community because the forums are updated frequently. They always have discussions going on. Anyone can have an opinion on what is happening today and write about it on this blog.

ReplyDeleteThis website is a great place for me and others who enjoy sports. It has many of the qualities of a good community. There are ways to communicate through blog posts,and through sending private messages to one another. There is a community standard that doesn't allow you to put anthing threatnig or inappropriate on a post. On the website there is just about any sport on there that you would want to talk about from football to poker.
To make this blogspot a better on you could put links on here about writing. Links that lead us to place about your writing style, ways to write a thesis, among any others that might help our papers get going in the right direction.

2. Facebook has a huge amount of participating members. The members come from different places around the world. Despite the fact that the members have varied interests it's very easy to find people with the same interests and beliefs.

It is website that allows paraplegics and quads to group together and hear about each others struggles and how to over come those struggles. It also gives insight on how to assist families who deal with the disability in their own family.

This website is a good community source because it provides chats, forums, recourses, and so much more. It makes a good online community because it has instant communication, common goals and beliefs, active participants, and seperate regions where it is located. I seems like a very well rounded, helpful website, especially for me going into the nursing program.
I think what would make this website a better writing website is to add links on helpful writing tips. I agree with Jennifer a few post above. A question of the week would be good to have so that everyone can share there thoughts. Another thing that would make this website better is to maybe have feedback, like a discussion group to share thoughts and ideas with our fellow classmates.
